FrankL
Gluten free cornbread has been baked and is now part of leftovers. My regular recipe usually comes out of the oven with a rating of 8 of 10. Iowa has different humidity and weather than Oklahoma and southern Missouri, so it isn't a consistent 9. There are times when every note is hit just right, and I pull a pan of 9.5 from the oven. It works at dinner, for prebed snack (with milk), and when warmed up over the next days. Other times it's a 6 and much of it gets thrown away. Last night's gluten free rates a 7. Not as good as my regular recipe often is but better than sometimes. It also doesn't hold it's taste as well after reheating and cooling.

Enforcer84
So yesterday was my big birthday gift. My brother and I saw one of my favorite bands in concert last night. Here's my (mildly edited) recap for my friends plus as much of the playlist as I can remember. The show was great, the venue was POOP and not enough people were there but it was awesome (Pete and I made their Face Book page! We're to the right of the guitar player Pete has the beard and I have the blue hat on backwards right behind him!) They played 15-20 songs I was trying to remember the play list but I did a crappy job. The Order kind of dies after the um...first song. Pete and I put our brains together this morning and came up with this semblance of a set list: (using live versions where I can so you can live it!) death tribble
My mother got interested in the Phryne Fisher mysteries after seeing the adaptation on the drama channel. So I got her the first set of books and then she went through them like a hot knife through butter. In the books Miss Fisher drinks gin, cointreau and orange juice. Well my mother is a gin drinker and also likes cointreau and so wanted to try it out. Success ! It is quite nice. I am not a gin drinker per se but I do like this cocktail. And that came from the books not the series. tkdguy

Burrito Boy
I love library book sales. I just got ten books for two bucks. Among them are a WW III book by Ian Slater, a Deathlands book by James Axler, and two Endworld books by David Robbins. But best of all, I finally found Worlds in Collision by Immanuel Velikovsky. death tribble
All my possessions are now out of storage and awaiting shelves to be varnished before they can be put away properly. Received a cheque from the council for the overpayment of council tax. Mother is getting a repayment from the storage people as we were out a week before the agreement came due. death tribble
First time ever. All my Dragon magazines from issue 119 upwards on one shelf. Also almost my entire book collection on shelves (two bookcases and ten plus purpose made shelves). tkdguy
Old Man
119 is about when I stopped collecting.
tkdguy
I still have most of my Dragon magazines. I didn't start collecting regularly until issue #135, but I've been buying up any old issues I come across, so I have several issues before #100. I stopped collecting sometime during the 3e-era. Old Man
I think my pile starts at 88. I might have one or two from before then. I wore a few issues out though.

death tribble
The majority of my comic collection is now on newly constructed shelves. That means Uncanny X-Men from the time of the new team, X-Men, Firestorm, Punisher (pre his death and resurrection), JLA (Geffin era) (Batman punched first !), JL Europe/International, Tom Strong, Wild CATS, Savage Dragon Spawn, Authority, Silver Surfer, Wetworks, Stormwatch and Knights of the Dinner Table are all in order and various others compiled into place. There is now an official Rammstein channel on Youtube so I can now get to the videos of Links 2 3 4 and Sonne without fear of them being removed again. tkdguy and Old Man

Bazza
Wallabies unfazed by controversial calls https://au.sports.yahoo.com/rugby/a/29963199/wallabies-unfazed-by-controversial-calls/ In a crucial five-minute stretch just before halftime, officials missed a blatant forward pass, a knock-on and an unintentional obstruction with the match on a knife edge leading into the break. The trio of errors led to the All Blacks piling on 10 points to turn a slender three-point buffer into a commanding 16-3 halftime lead, putting a massive dent in Australia's chances of forcing an upset at Twickenham. And so unexpected for a Englishman to post in this thread when his country's team--the hosts--couldn't even get out of the group stage. death tribble
And so unexpected for a Englishman to post in this thread when his country's team--the hosts--couldn't even get out of the group stage. the All Blacks become the first nation to win the Rugby World Cup three times and the first to retain. That is worth celebrating. After all the All Blacks are the premier rugby team in the world. The fact that they beat Australia to do it just makes it all the sweeter. Lawnmower Boy
Transferring to the Oakridge store to get my "full time" status back. The quotation marks signify that I'll be working a great dea less --36 hour week (extra day off every two weeks, so much nicer than it sounds), stat days and more vacation time. Also, knocking an hour off my commute. The downside is that I commute by bike, so much less exercise. I'll get fat(ter)! Maybe I should post this in the Cranky Thread, with the guys who are afraid of going bankrupt and losing family members, instead?
Ternaugh
I got jury duty, which means that I don't have to clean up after the contractors who are "straightening" our network IDFs. I won't be walking around as much, however, so I'm going to have to be careful what I eat.
