Grailknight
Nice picture, but I've seen too much Gundam to be wowed by it.

L. Marcus
A classic O'Neill Cylinder. Not Ed O'Neill, though. That'd be weird.
tkdguy
I've seen that picture used as an O'Neill Cylinder or a Stanford Torus. I am thinking of using it for my hard scifi game.

csyphrett
I don't know if you guys are fooling with me or what, but it is the time machine, and the vehicle is in the center of the picture. I admit it would be more obvious if the time machine was a TARDIS CES L. Marcus and tkdguy

tkdguy
Marcus is correct: It is indeed an O'Neill Cylinder. The center of the picture shows one of the ends of the cylinder.

I hadn't thought of the center part as the time machine, but at second glance, it does kind of look like a dark figure seated on a type of chair. So, yeah, I can see where you're coming from. Grailknight
Gerard O'Neill is the name you're looking for. If you Google search for the image you'll find that this was concept art from the 70's. The early Gundam colonies are derived from this design.
