Lucius
Re: "Neat" Pictures This amazing image is not photoshopped. It's a live action pic of a water balloon being shot. Then is there an explanation for why the bursting water is visible in shadow but only in shadow and the balloon itself appears smooth and unpunctured? Lucius Alexander The palindromedary says: Who knows what water lurks in the hearts of balloons? The shadow knows!

Hurricanes
Re: "Neat" Pictures Then is there an explanation for why the bursting water is visible in shadow but only in shadow and the balloon itself appears smooth and unpunctured? Lucius Alexander The palindromedary says: Who knows what water lurks in the hearts of balloons? The shadow knows! There is indeed an explanation, one I was completely unfamiliar with. First thing to know is that this was shot with a high speed digital camera. It is a byproduct the way digital cameras work. The CCD is read from top to bottom and, because the bursting of a balloon is a fast movement, the frame shows the instance where the camera had read the moment right before the bursting of the balloon. By the time it got to the bottom of the balloon, the balloon had already exploded and so it captured the shadow cast by the burst balloon. Serendipity, baby! SSgt Baloo
Re: "Neat" Pictures Although I'd seen some of these in thrift stores, back in the day, I had no idea there was such a variety of designs. I could have looked at many of the ones shown and never recognized it as a toaster. Behold: The Toaster Museum Foundation
