Amazing striped icebergs

Icebergs in the Antarctic area sometimes have stripes, formed by layers of snow that react to different conditions.

Blue stripes are often created when a crevice in the ice sheet fills up with melt water and freezes so quickly that no bubbles form.

When an iceberg falls into the sea, a layer of salty seawater can freeze to the underside. If this is rich in algae, it can form a green stripe.

Brown, black and yellow lines are caused by sediment, picked up when the ice sheet grinds downhill towards the sea.

Re: "Neat" Pictures

Was that a set? Or did he design the ship himself?

It's awesome either way.

A set? Are you kidding? This is $400, and it's a pale shadow of that guy's ship. Yeah, he designed it, and he obviously spent an insane amount of money on it.

And I don't think I realized how much he must have spent until just now. He's a freakin' mental case, but he builds an awesome Lego spaceship.

EDIT: Crap. I just went back to check and see if that site told how many bricks he used, and it doesn't. I figured that might be a way to guesstimate how much he spent on it...

And now I've just spent hours playing puzzle games on Lego.com. My mouse hand is cramped.

Han Solo's ship is just shy of $1000.00. ;)
