Fitz
I've begun adding various random "thing" generation tables to my site at http://mojobob.com/roleplay/hero/fantasy/highfantasyhero/index.html - see the "Miscellaneous Resources" link in the navigation column on the left. At the moment I have tables for merchants' stock in trade, random tradesmen types, and a bunch of random name tables for my campaign world, based on various historical cultural groups, with more to come as I complete them. I'm not generally in favour of random generation for important stuff (except when I want things to be hopelessly illogical), but for the minutiae it can be a boon. JTesla
Re: Random "Stuff" generation tables I really like the Tradesmen table, wide variety with everything I can think of and more. You might want to tweak the numbers up a bit, perhaps a 1-1000 roll just to give a greater chance of hitting a common trade. You have a 3% chance of getting a Cook and a 1% chance of getting a Falconer or Physician. I would think that Cook should be far more common. I’ve book marked your site, as one thing that I like even more then the Tradesmen and Merchants list are your lists of random names. Great work. Fitz
Re: Random "Stuff" generation tables Added more random name generation tables for various human peoples, plus elves and dwarves. Actually, the elf name stuff just links to the name translations at the quenya lapseparma site, and isn't actually a random generation thing at all. Still, there you go. Curufea
Re: Random "Stuff" generation tables I'm more in favour of lists for names, rather than randoms. I'm also in favour of using multiple copies of a name (ie Henry the thatcher and Henry the wheelwright) - because it adds a level of reality, I feel. Super Squirrel
Re: Random "Stuff" generation tables I don't know about the random stuff generator, but I like your webpage a lot. Now I have a "model" to outdo. Muhahahaha.

AlHazred
Re: Random "Stuff" generation tables What I'd like is a random generator that generates a settlement (perhaps based on the one in the DMG 3.5 with some extensive modifications) and then links it with a randomly-generated keyed map, perhaps with a 3-D generated image of the settlement based directly on the map. And while I'm at it, I'd like a pony...
Markdoc
Re: Random "Stuff" generation tables I like this. "I am Jebtsundamba Punsalmaagiyn Buandelgereen, high Khan of the Horse People! But you can call me Jebs..." cheers, Mark
