death tribble
And while I'm here. I'm getting a smidge tired of my "HR" person contacting me with no notice about getting new employees set up. "They start Monday" It's FRIDAY. When did you think I was going to get this sh.. ready? Enforcer, I feel your pain. I worked in IT and had to deal with people who expected this. Cancer
I asked myself why I still bother. Then told myself that, after all, these days I barely do bother.Still, it's kind of a wonder that I bother at all.Lucius AlexanderThe palindromedary says I shouldn't let it bother me. What a bother!
Enforcer84
Ah, those sad days when you want to be boss like Optimus Prime but begin to worry you're more of a whiny Starscream type "...and then you're Pessimist Prime, 'Autobots....why bother.'" Hermit
What did you do, Ray? I don't live on facebook, which is the only way my family communicates anymore so I didn't find out my sister underwent surgery. *sigh* Painful operation, six week recovery time etc

tkdguy
Best wishes and prayers for your sister, Hermit. I hope she has a quick recovery. I just heard an aunt and an uncle are going to have surgery. And they're in their 80s, so I'm pretty worried.
Hermit
tkdguy , prayers for your aunt and uncle.
Old Man
Likewise. If nothing else, medical tech is advancing by leaps and bounds, so perhaps surgery on octogenarians isn't quite as serious as it used to be.
tkdguy
Thanks, folks. Aunt's surgery was a success (it was brain surgery), so we're cautiously optimistic. Doctors are observing uncle's condition to see if leg improves and thus avoid having to amputate.
Cancer
The real bloodbath will be Italy vs Spain. I'll say. Will anyone escape with an intact pair of ankles? Will there be so many dive marks on the pitch that they have to give up and rebuild the playing surface from scratch? Stay tuned.... Old Man
Is there an Oscar category for sports "fouls"? Should there be separate ones for basketball and soccer? aylwin13
death tribble
Italy and Spain are two of the best sides so it is the best tie of the round.
aylwin13
Is there an Oscar category for sports "fouls"? Should there be separate ones for basketball and soccer? Yes, they're called the 'Floppies'; and there are separate categories for those two sports.
Cancer
Is it the two different sports, or are there height-related categories? Setting a cut at 190 cm of height would do the same thing...
Starlord
I appreciate courtesy. I like a good "thank you", "please", "your welcome", and "pardon me". Perhaps its the military in me. However, this week I've been bombarded with "overly-polite-at-the-stop-sign-guy". YOU GOT THERE 5 MINUTES AGO, JUST GO, DUDE!!!! JUST GO!!! STOP WAVING ME THRU!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!! JUST F*&KING GO!!!! IT'S BEEN 5 G&DDA&N MINUTES!!!!! YYYEEEAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!! YOU'RE WASTING MY TIME, NOT HELPING MEEEEE!!!!

Cancer
Do you drive a van with all available slots taken up with heavy rockets, too?
Old Man
I tried that but it's impossible to armor a van sufficiently. My favorite vehicle was a pickup with no weapons, just a honking huge engine and armor a foot thick. My second favorite was a lux with a turreted flame cloud gas streamer, which probably shouldn't be legal.
Logan D. Hurricanes
I used a limo designed for ramming. Loved that game. Still think of it every time I see a motorcycle with a sidecar.
