Cancer
Yes, it is a GotG reference ... albeit a silly one. Bazza
BlueCloud2k2
I am coming to the conclusion that students these days (and perhaps the majority of the population in general) do not understand what a paradox is, and thereby cannot learn from it when confronted by one. I say "these days" because I have direct experience only for the last twenty years; I have no idea if the students of the mid-20th Century were any different. Inevitably, but very quickly, they seize some irrelevancy that they use as an excuse to avoid thinking about the situation. Furthermore, I expect they resent strongly being fed such a thing where there is no easy answer, and reject the question entirely as irrelevant, a trick of no consequence, or an artificial trap intended only to make them stumble, where the presenter has intentionally withheld important information that provides the simple answer they desperately want to believe must exist. Nevertheless, students do better with them than media talking heads or elected officials. I know why this is. Because they want other people to do their thinking for them and all creative thinking and problem solving skills have been driven out of them by programs such as Blue Clues and other things where the answer is eventually given to them. Cancer
One thing I've noticed while watching tennis matches on TV is that several people, even in the front row, don't seem to be paying attention to the match. They're texting on their phones, reading magazines, etc. Keep in mind tickets to watch a live match aren't cheap even for minor tournaments. So why pay a lot of cash to attend an event, then not pay attention to it?If the copmpany bought the tix and gave them to clients, or employees, or whomever ... many of the baseball games I've been to over the last decade have come that route, from my sister-in-law's employer. Old Man
This. Getting my students to think is one of the most challenging tasks I've had in my career. BlueCloud2k2
And yet we can't seem to teach them to do it themselves.
Cancer
Well, they spend great effort in avoiding it. They must think it's painful, or heretical, or eeeeeeeeeeeeevil, or a sure-fire turn-off to MOTAS, or a cardinal violation of their slacker ethos, or something. BlueCloud2k2
So the moral of the story is, DO NOT TAKE PICTURES OF YOURSELF NAKED. Not that anyone would bother to leak mine, of course. Unless they wanted to drive people mad with horror. Do I even want to know?
L. Marcus
Do I even want to know? Whatsername, the lead from The Hunger Games movie, had some nude pics leaked. This is my guess at to the topic.
Enforcer84
yeah well screw you old man. (teasing) No offense, but if she wants to take pictures naked that's her prerogative. If someone steals them they are a thief and an asshole. You should not, just because you're famous/attractive/female/funny-looking/whathaveyou live in a state of douchebag forced modesty (or brazenness for that matter) "If you didn't want them to get the pics don't post them on the net!" "I didn't" "Well don't put them on your phone!" "It's my phone. I didn't share them, they were stolen." Not much different than: "They took the photo of me through a window." "Well don't ever get undressed!" Old Man, L. Marcus and BlueCloud2k2

Old Man
So as it turns out, one of the victims of the leaked nude photos is Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney... who was underage at the time the photos were taken. Thus, anyone who disseminated those particular photos has now distributed child porn.

If she was underage when the photos were taken then she herself is guilty of producing child pornography and should be prosecuted. Little bastards won't learn any other way.
