Galileo Galilei is a towering figure in the history of human thought. No less a modern authority than Steven Hawking has said "Galileo, perhaps more than any other single person, was responsible for the birth of modern science."

It would be difficult to do justice to his contributions to astronomy, physics, and to advancing the principles of the scientific methods of observation, measurement, and calculation. Galileo is a hero of science.

But none of that explains to me why his name suddenly appears repeated five times at this point in a song that otherwise does not mention Galileo, astronomy, physics, or anything else pertaining to him.....

It's a mystery. Go Figaro!

Re: Musings on Random Musings

Maybe because Brian May is an astronomer.

I thought he was just a poor boy, nobody loves him?

And I'm guessing then that Giordano Bruno is the 'anti-hero of science'.

I might have called him a martyr of science. Certainly a martyr of conscience.

Just a poor boy with a poor palindromedary

Bismillah, no! We will not let you go!

So what in the Name of God does Bismillah mean?

Lucius Alexander

The palindromedary says no, no, it's "what does Bismillah mean? In the Name of God."

"If the world were a logical place' date=' men would be the ones who ride horses sidesaddle."[/quote']

Can I quote you on that?

Lucius Alexander

The palindromedary says, you just did. We now return to our regularly scheduled thread hijacking.
