Enforcer84
Re: Musings on Random Musings Yes, I must definitely strangle a vendor. To elaborate... I'm not the typical idiot that tech support thinks I am, and that includes our own computer services department. I'm pretty sure that the reason they hate me is the number of times I've proven them wrong or called them out on their lazy incompetence. So when I say that there is a problem with the resource we have purchased from you, DO NOT go about the typical "You must be stupid. Is it plugged in?" crap. I gave you a very detailed description of the problem which you chose to ignore. If I have to go through it again, I will be very, very angry, and you will have lost a customer worth thousands. Don't push it. I'll hold him down you hit him with my shoe
Klytus
Re: Musings on Random Musings For Pete's sake' date=' Klytus, why didn't you just put down the laptop and go to the bathroom ?[/quote'] Because even though I'm on meds for my ADHD, I know that sometimes if I stop doing something I'm in the middle of, I'll either forget where I was or get distracted by another task and not get back to the original task. This one was nearly done, and I didn't want to get side-tracked, so I held it in until I was at a good stopping-point.
teh bunneh
Re: Musings on Random Musings Oops. I should ask here: Are you a horse Team Captain' date=' bunneh ?[/quote'] Nope, not me. The horse my team adopted is called "Oreo." It's black and white with a black circle on its side. I lobbied to adopt the horse called "Hero" (for obvious reasons), but someone else (our company president, in fact) got it.

teh bunneh
Re: Musings on Random Musings So, was the music just not your style, or too loud, or what? I hate places where the music is too loud. L. Marcus
Re: Musings on Random Musings Sunday Morning 0730: Computer locks up. Not even the decency to give an error. Just stops responding. 0805: Finally get computer to reboot after dozens of tries. 0820: Computer gives Kernel Panic. 0822: Give up, go back to bed. 1200: Standing in Apple store, buying new computer. Have discovered that I actually hate Apple Store employees, and I almost killed a man with my new computer who said "Dude, you're gonna love your new Mac" Who says that? WHO SAYS THAT! Has anyone ever walked up and said "Dude, you're gonna love your new Dell" ... no, they have not. You will never hear that. I am no longer part of the Apple Crowd, I will never have "Apple Cool" ... and really, I feel pretty darn good with that. It's not an experience, it's a computer. 1245: Standing in art store with wife, find shelf of Lucha Libre Thumb Wrestling Masks. All is well with the world again. 1500: Set up new iMac, realize that 24" widescreen is wide. Spend rest of day installing stuff. . . . Feeling better? . . . And, uh . . . Just out of curiosity -- exactly how would you have killed the man with your new computer?

archermoo
Re: Musings on Random Musings See if they do carryout or delivery! Or invest in earplugs. Monterey is 2 hours away, and has plenty of other places to eat. So it isn't like they're losing much by losing my business, or that I won't be able to go out if I don't go there. So, was the music just not your style, or too loud, or what? I hate places where the music is too loud. I'm like, "Hey, I'm trying to have a conversation here. I don't want to have to scream at the guy sitting right next to me..." Not my style. It was also fairly loud, but a lot of that was because it was pretty full of people as well. When we arrived they were playing music that was at least okay. But part of the way through the meal they switched over to country, which I cannot stand. I tried to ignore it, but that is one kind of music that just irritates me. Nails on the chalkboard level. No real loss. The food was certainly good, but no better than lots of other places. From how busy they were I'd say plenty of people liked both the food and the music, and I'll happily leave it to them.

Bazza
Re: Musings on Random Musings Sigh... My sister lost her baby. Almost died during the surgery. I heard there were "complications" but I didn't know the half of it. I'm glad she called and I'm probably glad I didn't know all the details as they were happening as it would have been unbearable. She's ok now, relatively speaking. And her husband Joe has been awesome. It's tough when they're halfway around the world. Condolences for the lost baby; and best wishes for your sister's health; and here's hoping any emotional pain/anguish of her's is healed quickly. Enforcer84
Re: Musings on Random Musings Thanks guys. It was actually hard to find out what was going on; she only briefly mentioned her trip to the doctor saying she had to get stitches. No one knew she was pregnant. I just found out yesterday when she called. She sounded OK, but she's definitely good at hiding it.
