Cancer
Re: The Last Word Mine were atypical also. My wife and my brother's wife, after comparing notes about my family, have found it strange that the two of us came out as close to normal as we did. AliceTheOwl
Re: The Last Word Short of selfish shortsightedness or just plain meanness, there's little one can do to a child that'll guarantee said child doesn't grow up to be a productive member of society. Little mistakes and quirks are just part of the growing-up process. The kids I felt the most sorry for, growing up, were the ones whose parents obviously wanted their kids to have the PERFECT childhood, because they were controlling, overbearing, and stifling. Letting kids make their own mistakes is part of the whole thing.

Cancer
Re: The Last Word Actually, both cats #1 and #2 demand lap time more or less daily, so the insistence wasn't all that unusual. With the size of the cat, his equal insistence on being petted while in the lap, and the layout of the chair/desk/terminal, it's just awkward to type with one hand, let alone both, while that's going on. AliceTheOwl
Re: The Last Word Just so long as you don't have a pullout keyboard. Mine LOVE to shove that out of the way to get into the lap. Crunch go the fingers.
Cancer
Re: The Last Word That is, in fact, part of the issue. One of them even does the late Loki's trick of heat-butting your mouse hand (we have a thumbball mouse, so keeping one hand in a useful place is easier) to get what he wants. Mind you, Felix is about half of Loki's size so it's not quite as physically imperative....
AliceTheOwl
Re: The Last Word Heh. Yeah, it's fun when they headbutt my hand right as my finger's coming down on the mouse button to click. "No! I didn't want THAT link! Stop!" Crunch go the fingers. My pullout has enough room I can still type on it while underneath. Which is a good way to keep cats from walking across my keyboard. AliceTheOwl
Re: The Last Word One of the times I was playing Super Mario Galaxy, the cat started chasing the little hand on the screen. Cancer
Re: The Last Word Well ... I like some kinds of dogs, make no mistake. But my wife & I have mild disagreement on what kind we like (happily neither of us like small yappydogs), and the yard-cleaning issue is one that seals the deal.
