Cancer
Well, the elegance attracts some kinds of physicist, looking for a certain aesthetic. I am not among them, so I can't really do justice to their way of thinking.

Bazza
So #1 rule of Themyscira, Island of the Amazons is that "Man must not set foot on Themyscira". The rule doesn't mention at all about wearing footwear, like sandals, etc.

Bazza
Bump for tomorrow. Mystery topic for Pariah. Will have to wait for tomorrow. Drats. ...they got started planning a brand new Star Trek screenplay called Planet of the Titans. Roddenberry had looked at a number of story ideas and treatments and decided on one by screenwriters Chris Bryant and Alan Scott in which the Enterprise investigates the disappearance of another ship, which leads to the disappearance of Captain Kirk and then the discovery of a planet that's home to the Titans of ancient Greek mythology. It was set to begin filming in 1977 with a budget of $10 million. http://www.looper.com/27706/movies-canceled-idiot-mistake/s/star-trek-planet-of-the-titans/ Sounds like Star Trek crossed with Stargate. Pariah
They already did a Star Trek-Stargate crossover. It was called "Stargate SG1 Season 1". Seriously, so many plots recycled from Star Trek. The only thing missing was Carter in one of those miniskirt things.
Bazza
Really? Wow. You think you know a TV show.
L. Marcus
Trekgate sounds like a proper scandal.
Bazza
But what then was the scandal? Kirk get involved with an Orion green slave girl again?
Pariah
That's hardly scandal material. The Trek Universe is all about free love and such. It's only a scandal if Kirk bedding some space floozy results in a violation of the Prime Directive.

Pariah
Yeah, that sounds about right. I love how SG1 riffed on Star Trek in that 200th episode.

Bazza
And I like the idea that within the Star Trek universe there is Stargate-like planets, eg Egyptian/Greek mythology themed. Can the Go'uld be far behind--would Starfleet discover such a planet ruled by a new System Lord?
Pariah
Don't quite remember that episode. Will have to refresh my memory. The episode was titled "200" and was literally just an excuse for the writers and actors to spend an hour lampshading the show's various tropes, poking fun at everything from Star Trek to Farscape to the Wizard of Oz, and generally ignoring the fourth wall. It was amazing. And hilarious.
