Cancer
Every teacher has a class-sized set of rotating knives somewhere. It's part of the training.

Cancer
The Pink Floyd needs to be turned up louder if you hear those.

Pariah
I have The Wall and The Dark Side of the Moon. The essentials, but that's all.
Bazza
I also have Wish You You Here.
Cancer
Wish You Were Here is my favorite; also have Dark Side of the Moon, and Animals.

Pariah
What? The Anka version is, at very least, marginally better than the original.
Cancer
And I like The Wurzels better than Paul Anka! Pariah
Pariah
The album in question, Rock Swings, is actually a pretty good big band album. One of the more interesting bits is that it contains a swing cover of Bon Jovi's "It's My Life", which includes the line "Frank said, I did it my way". "My Way" was not written by Frank Sinatra, of course. It was written by Paul Anka.
L. Marcus
... Ew.
Cancer
Paul Anka is one of those people who have huge abilities and have produced a lot of material, and I merely don't care for their stuff. That latter is a statement about me, not about them.
Cancer
BTW Bazza, I have a book to recommend to you, re: your early influential books idea. A recent book is "To Explain the World" by Steven Weinberg, in which he makes a personal attempt to tease out the beginnings of modern science from its forebears. I have barely started it (just finished chapter 1) but some of the names and themes he addresses are those which seem to be dear to you. Weinberg is a theoretical physicist, and perhaps the closest to a reigning Grand Old Man in physics these days; he is coming at this from the hard science point of view.
