This was in 1968-71; I was in my early teens so I have no way of knowing the truth of the claim. (The place existed, you could see it on the street, but who knows what was really in there.) I also didn't learn I liked Irish whiskey until I was almost 40, and that was via an episode of international cooperation in science. Almost an epic tale, that.
