Cancer
Re: The Last Word Me, I go by the old (and I mean old) Fantastic Four comic canon. I don't recall him being into laughter. Actually, when he thinks he's won, he's pretty magnanimous.

AliceTheOwl
Re: The Last Word I almost never use absolutes. I qualify almost everything. I call it my overqualification. I even named my livejournal after it. I don't think anyone gets it, though.

AliceTheOwl
Re: The Last Word Thinking in terms of black and white is usually a sign of concrete thought. A lot of people (about 60% of the population) never graduate to abstract thought. So, who knows?
Cancer
Re: The Last Word I'm inclined to think it was immaturity rather than being strictly a concrete thinker. He was pretty sharp in a lot of ways, just infatuated with "the coolest X" and "the strongest Y". There were some other contradictions to him as well: he was a maniac for baseball, but he was pathetic as a player on the field. So my suspicion is of an overall lack of maturity, possibly induced or aggravated by an overly protective/restrictive parent figure. That kind of problem can be overcome with time and experience. I graduated and moved off to grad school before I could see if I was right, though.
