Re: The cranky thread

Thanks for the tips' date=' folks.[/quote']

Talked to my brother.. his was caught late, so reasoning him through it was easy.

He got tutors for math, which is still his weak point.

For reading he said that me and my Dad went out and found stuff he would want to read - no matter the material. For my part he said giving him all my Harper Series DnD books was a big help.

His best advice was make sure he's reading something HE finds interesting, anything at all helps. And then it's a matter of pacing.. he read slow but he was reading and comprehending.

So really. Dealing with dyslexia seems to be a matter of perseverance and support.

Re: The cranky thread

I have a migraine, which is pushing me into a bad mood that may last the rest of the day. Excedrin may or may not help, but I've taken some.

Also, there's a huge bruise on my right arm from a cable slip while exercising, my new haircut shows how thin my hair has gotten on top, my work gets me no respect, and the fact that I am not a multi-bllionaire internationally renowned philanthropist and diplomat seems unlikely to change.

Also, I need coffee, and the kitchen is too far away.

On the other hand, I remain sexy.

Re: The cranky thread

Yay for being able to take half a day off yesterday for the bosses daughters graduation. Boo for having to be back to work today.

1) Because it's Friday.

2) Because I had nothing to bill (they did it all yesterday so the month of May looked good money-wise *eye roll).

3) Because not 2 minutes after I got here, the VP was at my desk:

"So, what are you gonna be doing today since we got all the billing done yesterday?"

"I have some Pro-Tech stuff I can do."

"Well, I have some PO's that need to be entered and released to the floor. So, come with me and I'll show you what can be entered."

*ish handed a nice big pile of stuff to key...*

So...here it is, nearly 2 hours later and I'm just finishing. And I'm still not done. Now I've gotta go fax the acknowledgements off and make a copy of each PO to put with the master op sheets and give those to the VP...then throw the original PO copies (as well as the acknowldegement and fax confirmation) in the basket to be filed.

I really do hate when the CSR is on vacation. It makes more work for me to do. And the part that really sucks is, when I take time off, my co-worker and boss do the billing (a huge part of my job that has to be done daily) but leave everything else for me to do (not a huge deal because it's just keying AP invoices and invoicing the paint company)...yet when the CSR takes off, I'm expected to do most of her work for her. >_<

I'm so Undomestic. We eat out all the time and it costs a fortune. We were eating at home most nights for a while, but lately we have backslided. It's expensive and fattening, but like I said, I'm very Undomestic. I'll have to get rich so I can hire a Chef.

Look, we've been living to gether for how many years now? So why, all of a sudden, do you ***** and moan about the way I do dishes? Especially since I was doing the dishes that you used, and I was doing it because I knew you were tired and didn't want to? Of all the ungrateful--

Re: The cranky thread

Offspring update (non-cranky): My wife had spoken to a Vice-Principal about our son, and the VP sounded like a piece of work from my wife's description of the meeting and her point-blank refusal to assist in any way. I suggested she seek an appointment with the Principal instead. She saw him today and he didn't offer any specific assistance, but did accept that the school needed to make some effort and offered to do all that he could to help. That at least stopped my wife talking so adamantly about changing schools, which I felt was the worse thing we could do.

This is a sign she's upset because she feels you don't contribute as much as she does to the housework. But rather than nag at you about that, she's nagging at what you DO contribute to. Probably because she knows you contribute just as much as she does.

Isn't female psychology FUN?

Man' date=' I've had a crappy week. And there were a lot of idiotic jerks in the bus. One of them annoyed me so much, I bulldozed him when I got off.[/quote']

The hell with bulldozing them. It's a good punch in the mouth they need.

Okay, thanks, but now I'm really confused.

I suppose that's the whole point.

Re: The cranky thread

The old debates never go away, even when I tell myself to stay out of them.

The old anger never goes entirely away, even when I tell myself not to hold on to it.

Oh, and there's going to be another depression in two years, and I'll be jobless, and my beloved wife will be miserable.

Mm.

I should say something funny here, but I'm just not feeling it.

Re: The cranky thread

Great! Just finished doing one lot of diagrams for the assignment... then find the fine print that says I can't do them using Word's drawing tools, which are perfectly fine for the job. I have to use a specialised program which is extremely frakking hard to use and which I don't have the time or inclination to master.
