Hermit
My parrot Pachuco, who I've had for sixteen years and who I expected to outlive me, died today. The worst part is that I wasn't there with him because I'm still in Nevada and he was at home in Texas. Sympathies Burrito Boy

Old Man
Bank: The credit card terminals we gave you have software bugs that will cause them to stop working next week. Us: It's... the week before Mother's Day. We are a jewelry company. Bank: Sorry, our bad. We'll send out some replacements as soon as we can. Us: The replacements you sent out six months ago we all misconfigured and we had to walk sales staff through reconfiguring all of them over the phone. Bank: Don't worry, we're sure we'll get it right this time. Us: We have a bad feeling about this.

dsrtrosy
This is exactly what I need today. I'm at the end of year 2 of my PhD, I can't seem to focus on anything, I hate all the people, and my dog is avoiding me. I AM DEFINITELY FEELING CRANKY!! :thumbdown
Nolgroth
I went to a Ren Faire today and the only thing that amused/entertained me were some pugs in barding/armor. It was really pathetic and a waste of my $5 parking fee. I miss my Kansas City Ren Faire.
Hermit
Not a major thing, but suddenly having my computer decide it didn't recognize anything was alarming.

Pariah
I just saw the first picture of one of the Manchester bombing victims. She could have been one of my students. What the Hell is wrong with people? Targeting children at a concert? What kind of corrupt ideology says that's okay? How mentally ill do you have to be to think that's okay? I don't even know what to say about this. death tribble and Burrito Boy
Nolgroth
Don't try to put it into context. There is none. It is just plain Evil. Yes, that is a capital E. People will try to explain it, justify it, excuse it, or just plain understand it, but evil is something that good people can't truly understand. It's why you are shocked and dismayed. Keep being shocked and dismayed. It sucks, but it defines you as a good person. Pattern Ghost, Burrito Boy and Pariah

Burrito Boy
On Sunday my uncle bought a new battery for the truck I've been driving. So why am I cranky? Because today the bleeping serpentine belt broke.
Old Man
Is that bad, or is it really superduper bad? I.e., is it the timing belt on an interference engine?
Enforcer84
It's belated but 2 weeks ago I had my first old man moment. I fell on a chair and bruised my ribs. I can now kinda sorta run across the street if I don't mind wincing and sleep has become easier. But I'm getting real tired of this body and the crap it makes my brain put up with. It's superduper bad because it means I have to go back to driving the truck with manual transmission.

You have my sympathy. I pulled a muscle (at least I think that's what happened) in my left hip a couple weeks ago and it hasn't stopped hurting. Standing and walking are fine but bending and sitting are still painful.
Pariah
Spent 3 hours and $300+ at the emergency room tonight because we have two children who can't communicate or follow instructions as effectively as a German Shepherd. Fortunately, both kids are okay. Burrito Boy
