Re: The cranky thread

One of my cats left the house last week and hasn't come back despite the bad weather. And he had just recovered from a fight (second time he came back with an injured eye). I hope he comes back eventually, but at this point, I don't know if he's still alive.

I have, for what feels like the 100th time, had to explain to the DAAP[1] QAT[2] how to verify the username and password that needs to be configured for the software to talk to the server. I have to go through this every single time the DAAP QAT tests a revision of our software.

This is really not a good combination.

I haven't even gotten to the DAAP CSR[3].

The thing is, all the other testers in the QA department are on the ball. It's just that the DAAP QAT happens to be one of the two that always get assigned to test my group's software.

The DAAP QAT not only doesn't know how to use File -> Save As to save an Excel document as a CSV file' date=' DAAP QAT doesn't even know what a CSV file is.[/quote']

...so, how did this particular QAT get the job, exactly? Also, please tell me you're not developing fly-by-wire systems for aircraft, or weapons guidance software.

I have no idea how or why the QA dept thought this person was a good candidate. Fortunately its the other (competant) tester who tests the billing software.

Amazing how people keep forgetting to cash in the checks I give them. If they don't want my money, that's okay. Just don't charge me; then I can balance my accounts. But don't lose my check for a whole year then ask me to reissue it because it expired.

Re: The cranky thread

Last fall the School district moved my 4 year old son from the school he had been in the year before, to one about 8 miles down the road. He is supposed to be getting speech therapy. there were a lot of problems when they rolled the therapeutic pre-school into the ECEAP program, which some have described as a day care for low income kids. We were not happy, but they did finally manage to straighten out most of the problems...

Today they gave my wife some new paperwork. Apparently they are being audited, and in the process they realized that my son is NOT an ECEAP student. Now, they start the 2 hr 20 minute period with a roughly 30 minute LUNCH. My son rarely eats much of it, because he has usually eaten breakfast shortly before. I work swing shift, so I don't get him up at 0700, 0900 is plenty early.

Now they are apparently talking about charging us for ALL THOSE LUNCHES. If they try, I am going to raise a stink that will probably smell all the way to the state capitol.

THEY made a mistake. THEY forced us to take him to a school we really didn't like in the firstplace. THEY mandated the lunches. THEY never said a word to us about charging for them. (The fact that they usually throw away huge amounts of food afterward is another little pet peeve. )

This could get ugly.

On top of that, I had a flat tire on my way to work. When I went to change it, I discovered that the proper lug-wrench was for some reason NOT in the car. I had my wife drive down to where I was (8 miles or less), but she did not have a proper wrench in her car either. There were two lug wrenches, one in each car, but both were just enough too big, so they spun. I sent her down to pick up a new one, which she brought me. I put the Donut spare on, and then took it down to get 4 new tires. All were fairly worn, and it is a 4 wheel drive Subaru...

I got off fairly cheap, ONLY 182 bucks that I sort of have...
