Old Man
Re: The cranky thread The other three are still in the shelter awaiting adoption. :( :( Nothing gets adopted faster than cute kittens. Not the best time of the year for kitten adoption, but still.
lemming
Re: The cranky thread I am going to have to break some people in half. That's all there is to it. And in other news, it takes six hours to fill out 16 business trips worth of expense reports.
SatinKitty
Re: The cranky thread OddHat has a cold which he has just decided to tough out and Stripes is sick. I can't get a Vet before Wed. unless I want to go to the emergency clinic and spend $200-$300. If she isn't better later today maybe we'll go. lemming
Re: The cranky thread Hope Stripes gets better. Health insurance for pets is sorely lacking. We're looking into a firm called Embrace Pet Insurance. I haven't looked into myself, but the little I've read shows them better than the big firm. (Vet something?) SatinKitty
Re: The cranky thread Thanks for your well wishes. Stripes is her old self today. She had a hairball this morning and was still a little sluggish, but seems OK now. I guess her problem was just indigestion.

Narratio
Re: The cranky thread Well, it's 3 days into a New Year and I've been told I have to postpone my R&R by a week. I worked Xmas Eve and Day. I worked New Years Eve and Day. And now my normal 6 week stint on site, which is already at 8 weeks, gets increased to 9 weeks. And yet my return date stays the same. It's a real sucky start to the year.
tkdguy
Re: The cranky thread That sucks! Can't you file a grievance or something? I hope you got paid overtime working on Xmas and New Years Day.
SatinKitty
Re: The cranky thread My Pedicurist today did not speak English so all I could say was OW ! when she scraped my flesh with the file. Now my poor left foot hurts. The skin around the nails is scraped raw. I think I will go to the Expensive Place where I get my hair done from now on for Pedicure/Manicure. tkdguy
Re: The cranky thread I wish people wouldn't be so quick to believe things they read online. I'm talking about the "MSN is about to charge you for using Hotmail unless you forward this message to all your contacts" hoax. I keep having to send them to Snopes to show them it's a fraud. death tribble
Re: The cranky thread I have not spoken to my brother even over the phone since Christmas 2006. His kids yes but not him. His choice apparantly. It took him 11 months to even reply by e-mail and that was because I sent presents via the post for Christmas. So I have vented at him in an e-mail asking him to explain himself. What he has also failed to realise that his mother knows all about this and is very unhappy with him. And the written letter she is sending him is much harsher.

AliceTheOwl
Re: The cranky thread I'll say it again- Will sell soul to Devil to permanently eradicate cough. Have you been checked for anything serious? Josh had his cough for three weeks, so he went to the doctor, and found out he has bronchitis. They gave him codeine. You have NOT seen comedy until you've seen a squirrel on codeine.
Cancer
Re: The cranky thread I wonder if they realized when they set it up that they were scheduling a kick-off meeting for 3:30 PM on the Friday before a 3-day weekend. It's likely to be a Charlie Brown style kick-off.

tkdguy
Re: The cranky thread I'll say it again- Will sell soul to Devil to permanently eradicate cough. I woke up with a sore throat and cough yesterday. I thought it was just my allergy acting up, but I felt worse during the day and went home early. Now I'm all achy. Lawnmower Boy
Re: The cranky thread So I got to kick a bum out of the store last night. Manager's privilege, yay. Not much to see. Tall man, wasting away till his sweatpants hung like a would-be gangbanger's jeans, incoherent, open wounds on his face, swearing, hands and fingers curling inwards in that weird retracted position that gives away severe nerve damage. He got a bottle of mouthwash because neither the security guard nor I wanted to touch his incredibly dirty clothes. And besides, it was cold out, and he's not going to live much longer. All par for the course, but look him in the face and you see teeth like ...I've seen the mouths of Punjabi peasant women come over to live with their descendants, women who walk like they had to wait 20 years to have their fistula repaired, and I've never seen teeth like that. They were so snaggled that even the healthy ones ought to have been pulled. He was otherwise a youngish White man, but evidently in all his years of life no-one, not parents nor social services ever took him to see a dentist. Way to go, society. Which I guess is a way of saying, "way to go, me."
