Bazza
Well' date=' the old "rep inflation" tag search is no longer available, and with rep itself not in place now all that fascinating exponential growth phenomenon seems to be over. A pity.[/quote'] it may live again. who knows.
Cancer
Might be amusing to have it reset to zero and we watch the whole exponential growth thing replay again.

Cancer
Well, there's that. If we get negative rep back, maybe CourtFool would join us again.

Bazza
Well' date=' there's that. If we get negative rep back, maybe CourtFool would join us again.[/quote'] that could be fun again.
SteveZilla
Well' date=' there's that. If we get negative rep back, maybe CourtFool would join us again.[/quote'] Gods, I hope we never get negative rep back - for reasons unrelated to CourtFool's presence or absence. Some people here are very... strong... in their political convictions. The ability to negatively rep would IMO be the match that lights off NegRep wars the likes of which haven't been seen in ages. SteveZilla
But electricity ... more or less no one has experience with electricity' date=' and the very concepts of electric field and (in particular) electric potential seem to escape them.[/quote'] Shocking. Cancer
Got an email from someone who was in the regular gaming group 20 years ago. He won't reach anyone but me for a few days because everyone else in the group is off at Game Storm in Portland. Why am I not there? I give two finals today, and then spend the weekend grading them. I'd rather be killing Orcs' date=' though there are certain ... parallels ... between the two activities of killing violent subhuman monsters and grading physics tests taken by pre-meds. And one is officially discouraged from using dice to assign grades.[/quote']
L. Marcus
I don't think I'd like your kind of pre-meds.

Cancer
Hence my occasional references to "Broken Bulldozer Gulch". Bulldozer methods are doomed to failure in certain questions.

Cancer
The validity of a syllogism is dependent upon the validity of the axioms in the syllogism. In this context, it may be useful to recall that the rules of logic are themselves axioms.
Bazza
and we know that logic trumps maths. (cf. http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg21128231.400-ultimate-logic-to-infinity-and-beyond.html?full=true )

Cancer
Memo to students: When asked the direction of the force in a physics problem, the answer had better not be "Yes".
Bazza
THe answer is "Whichever way Luke chooses to use his TK" as in "use the Force, Luke"

Cancer
Well, it is required by their degree program, so there is some compulsion there.
Bazza
maybe they were forced (pun accidental) to take physics.
