Bazza
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Cynicism is a philosophy! Maybe, but not a very good one. edit was thinking of "faultfinding" not "simple living" which I mostly agree with in principle.
Cancer
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER The comment was once made that it's possible to go just as wrong by being too cynical as being too trusting, but I know of fewer real-life examples of errors made through excessive cynicism. lemming
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I'd say that cynicism tends to block off certain opportunities (and sometimes reinforcing the initial cynical attitude). Trusting tends to let someone in close to really screw you over.

Of the too, I reckon it is better to be too trusting (seeing the best in people rather than seeing the worst).
RPMiller
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Interestingly, my best friend is a very serious fault finder and I am a truster (for the most part). We actually had an interesting discussion on our specific views and it boiled down to, he trusts no one until they prove trustworthy. That includes everything they say and do. I on the other hand, tend to trust most people until they prove untrustworthy. However, I am not blindingly trustful. I do tend to give people the benefit of the doubt most of the time... unless it is on the Internet.
