Pariah
Why not do something fun?! Thanks, but I have other plans.
L. Marcus
"No TV and no beer make Pariah something something ..."
Pariah
The 'No Beer' thing isn't a problem. I have literally never had 'a beer', and haven't had alcohol (outside of NyQuil) since the early 80s. No TV, on the other hand, could be an issue. Especially during football season. L. Marcus
Alcohol is the worst. Smells like markers.
Cancer
Depends on which alcohol. IMO, markers don't smell much like ethanol. Some of the more toxic alcohols, yes....
L. Marcus
I think my smell receptors are a bit out of whack when it comes to alcohol.
Cancer
Smell is just one of many reasons -- and not at the head of the list -- for why I don't like whiteboards and whiteboard markers.
L. Marcus
They're much better than blackboards and chalks.
Cancer
I strongly disagree.
Old Man
RANT MODE ENGAGED I have never understood why chalkboards have been replaced by whiteboards. Blackboard problems: Dust. Whiteboard problems: Dust, stench, difficult to erase, low contrast, glare/reflections, dried out pens, expensive pens, pens that stain clothes, pens that stain each other, pens that stain anything that isn't a whiteboard and in fact will eventually stain the damn whiteboard too. Seriously wtf. Pariah
Pariah
I also prefer a chalkboard to a white board. Of course, my classroom has a Smart Board, and I like that best of all.

Cancer
More precisely, one more thing where Campus IT will botch/neglect the maintenance and in four months it will stop working entirely.

Cancer
University IT departments tend to foster our kind of attitude very, very efficiently.
L. Marcus
Must be an American thing.
Cancer
Millions for capital outlays to outfits with marketer teams who give sexual favors to the executives who sign the purchase orders and never actually have to use what is ordered, and not one red cent for maintenance or support for the actual users. Yup, it's an American thing.
Old Man
I'm not sure I understand the relevance of the link.
Cancer
The historical aphorism, "Millions for defense, but not one cent for tribute" is attached to the XYZ Affair.
