L. Marcus
Despite the beard.
Pariah
The beard goes away after next week.
L. Marcus
Oh, a play-off beard? Same as mine.
Cancer
Yeah, I'd lend the kid a book. I'm up half-a-dozen times now when I've had students' calculators die during exams (including one last week). Lending them mine is not really an option, since I use a RPN machine that students can't figure out how to use. I have started keeping a pack of AAA's in my exam kit for this purpose. Old Man
What do you charge for those AAAs?
L. Marcus
... Assault and batteries included?
Pariah
Dreadful pun, just dreadful.
L. Marcus
Par for the course.

Fortunately I have a classroom set of calculators. Most of them are solar-powered $15 scientific calculators that don't require replacement batteries. But I also have a bunch of TI-84 Plus models that go through AAA batteries faster than the TV remote during a Twilight marathon.
L. Marcus
Who would willingly change channel to a Twilight marathon?
Old Man
Pariah, apparently.
L. Marcus
That was a bit harsh.
Cancer
I tend to flip channels compulsively, unless there's a sports event I want to see in particular. Doesn't matter what is on otherwise; I flip through as fast as the remote can cycle.
L. Marcus
Same here; and since we only get eight channels, it feels a bit, you know, silly.
Cancer
What I really want is controller that blocks out whole swathes of channels and programming types, prevents them from ever appearing on screen. In a true hardware ROM that can't be reprogrammed or subverted.
L. Marcus
Just stay away from the damned thing.

Bazza
It is the sparkle vampires, right?
L. Marcus
Right, but it's also very very wrong.
Bazza
They aren't metrosexual enough for Bella?
L. Marcus
Vampires shouldn't be metrosexual - they should be frightening! Every time I hear of Edward Cullen, I get the urge to watch Coppola's Dracula.
