And then ... yes it is, and it is so overdried that atmospheric oxygen is replacing the chlorine in the reactants (oops). That possibility had not occurred to me before I got the chlorine up my snoot, but I recognized IMMEDIATELY what was going on when my olfactory nerves registered in the "outrage" range.
