Bazza
I opened those links, but couldn't get the link (pardon the pun) to my post above.
Cancer
Perhaps because you haven't gone deep enough in the series? Hmm, no, it finds it, at http://oeis.org/A000045
Cancer
So in which thread does Death Tribble taunt Bazza about the Ashes?
Bazza
All of them.
L. Marcus
Ha ha, the Ashes go to England! That kind of thing?
Bazza
the physical urn always stays in England expect for a rare time when it came to Australia. It is more a metaphoric thing when the Aussies or England win the Ashes. but this time the English won the series, and in a few months another Ashes series starts, this time in Australia. The Ashes, as well as Test match cricket (IIRC) was founded in 1877 between England and Australia. When Australia beat the English team in England in 1882, a newspaper published a mock obit on the "ashes" of English cricket. (link to in a satirical obituary). Also worth noting that many of these original cricket grounds are still being played on after over a century (Lords, The Oval, SCG, MCG etc). Cancer
I play in an electronic soccer league with a couple of Englishmen who gloat ruthlessly about it. It was from them I learned of it, oh, 10-15 years ago.
Bazza
I'm sure the Aussie won the Ashes then, we were getting really good at it (like the English are now).
Cancer
Yeah, I remember much wailing and gnashing of teeth about it.
L. Marcus
Personally, I find it hard to get my pulse up over cricket. To each his or her own, eh?
Cancer
At one point in time I tried to figure out the game, and had several Commonwealthers tell me that was impossible if you weren't born into it.
L. Marcus
Why? Is it some sort of mystery cult?
Cancer
That's a viable conclusion, but not a necessary one.
L. Marcus
Not necessary? Then just for the hell of it!
Bazza
Personally' date=' I find it hard to get my pulse up over cricket. To each his or her own, eh?[/quote'] well of course, unless you are in a nation that has the tradition you won't get excited by it. No different to Aussies and Canada's national sport ice hockey, or even America with gridiron. what is the national sport in Sweden? #clueless. Bazza
Why? Is it some sort of mystery cult? Probably like Texans and football, as relayed by Sheldon, remember that episode? That seems to be a mystery cult.
