Cancer
I would link to it from Woodstock but it is not F-I-S-H. On the recording, it is called the Fish Cheer, because it is led by Country Joe and the Fish. But you are quite right that the cheer is not F-I-S-H. Cancer
This was an aggravating circumstance, too; the new principal was nicknamed "Fish", which he did not like, and the cheer going along with that was ... worse.

L. Marcus
Had LotR even been released when Cancer went to high school?

L. Marcus
I do doubt Marillion was around, though.

L. Marcus
Marillion took their name from the Silmarillion.
Cancer
LotR was around well before my adulthood; through an odd set of travel-related circumstances, for about half the summer of 1968 (when I turned 12) the Hobbit and the LotR trilogy (in these covers) were all I had to read, so must have read them all several times in the month and a half or so before our household goods finally arrived from the States. By contrast, the Silmarillion came out in the spring of my senior year of college; my girlfriend gave me a copy for graduation. And a couple of years after that, I won a copy of this as the prize in a campus-wide Tolkien trivia contest. That was embarrassing, actually, because while I knew of the exam in advance, I did no prep for it; come the evening of the exam, I was trying to prepare a seminar (in astrophysics) that I was giving the next day. I had writer's block, so to cool off I went down to the Student Union (this was at Texas, so overall campus population was ~43,000 at the time) and took the exam cold, and yes, there were lots of ... aaah ... fuzzy type people there, cramming in from their copies of the various books. I was stunned two weeks later to find I'd won the damned thing, since I did not match my mental image of a person who would be so into that stuff as to win a contest.
