Pariah
Of course, they're hers! What's the occasion? Strabismus surgery. She has esotropia, and the glasses she's worn since she was about 9 months old haven't corrected it.
Old Man
/googles strabismus Best wishes. Seems like the kind of thing that barbarian Western medicine should be pretty good at fixing, but still.
Pariah
She's out of surgery now. The procedure went more smoothly than anticipated. She's still very sleepy from the anesthesia, but the early returns look very promising. Thank you, everyone, for your concern and kind wishes. Pariah
No, the glasses she can keep. (I've a pair of my own I'm rather fond of, truth be known.) The bit with her eyes not tracking together, that's got to go. She's sleeping peacefully now, poor thing. If I had a mg of sense, I'd be doing the same thing. Pariah
Admittedly, "most helpful piece of pedagogical advice I've seen in a month" isn't setting the bar very high.
