Cancer
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Yes, as in the bird with long tail feathers. They introduced them here in North America, and they definitely like the wheat farms in eastern WA.

L. Marcus
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER My mom's side of the family are very much into hunting, but the taste never passed on to us. I've been pondering getting a hunting license, but I've got enough stuff to do. Incidentally, because of all the hunting, Sweden has more guns per capita than the US. That's a piece of statistics that I seem to recall from somewhere. Won't swear that it's true.

Cancer
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER The one Finn I'm acquainted with does hunting trips a couple times a year up in Lappland. For odd reasons, we never had firearms while I was growing up; we didn't have any in the house until we literally inherited three rifles and a revolver (all old) about the time I turned 18. I don't have anything against hunting or owning weapons; it's just a hobby (and expense) I never developed a taste for.
L. Marcus
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER My maternal grandfather was an enthusiastic hunter. Most of his guns ended up with my aunt's family, but one strange little caplock carbine made it to us.
