For over a year now I have been unable to get much done besides some small writing projects for a few weeks.  I have been caring for my mother who suffered from dementia.  It was incredibly exhausting and difficult work, but a labor of the truest love.  She was a sweetheart and it hurts so bad to say that she passed away last night, but she finally has gone home and I treasure that thought in my heart.  Hopefully soon I can get started again on my work, but there is still a lot to do now.

Christopher, I very strongly sympathize. I went through the same over my own mother's last years.

If you don't mind, I'd like to offer you a little advice based on experience. You're going to be feeling very mixed emotions, and not all of them will hit you right away. Don't deny yourself the time to sort through them, which takes as long as it takes. And don't try to deal with them by yourself. Find someone to talk everything out to, a professional if that's what you need.

If you ever think you want my participation, you know where to find me.

My sincere condolences, Christopher.  Loss is, for the survivors, a test of strength, of resolve, and of faith.

But during your mourning, remember that for the departed, it is the end of burdens, suffering, and obligation.

It is an awful thing for those of us who survive, and it is understandable and proper that we miss those we lost, but do not forget the peace that has been granted to those who have moved on.
